Requesting Your Own Custom Fly

When ordering your own decorative fly carving, please consider the following information. After reviewing this information, please contact us to discuss your custom fly preferences.

PATTERNS & STYLE: These carvings are display items that capture the essence of an actual fishing fly. While many actual fly patterns can be rendered in this style, there are also patterns that do not lend themselves to this art form. Therefore, color, form and style should be your top priority in specifying a carving. It is interesting to note that the majority of patrons choose a carving with the sweeping grace of wet fly pattern.

MOUNTINGS: Your carving can be mounted in one of two ways.

One method includes a driftwood base with a spring steel wire that blends into the hackles. This creates the effect that the fly is “floating.” A second method is to mount the carving on a clear Lucite rod and base for a more contemporary look.

PRICING: As with most handmade items, these carvings will vary in cost depending upon the complexity of each finished piece. Another review of the “Gallery” page will give you an idea of cost as it relates to complexity. Most custom flies range in cost from $225 to $575.

AVAILABILITY: depending upon order volume, please allow at least four to six weeks for delivery. All orders are processed on a “First Come, First Served” basis.

SHIPPING: Due the delicate nature of these carvings, a specially prepared box is made for each individual carving to hold the it securely during shipment.. This box is then placed within an outer box for final shipment. Complete instructions for the careful and orderly unpacking of your fly carving are included. The special box and handling cost is $35.00 plus actual shipping costs.

DEPOSIT: A 50% deposit in the form of a check or money order must accompany each commissioned order.

GUARANTEE: Unlike most commissioned art, your satisfaction is completely guaranteed. Prior to shipping, a photo will be sent of your carving for approval. If you do not approve of the photo, your deposit will be refunded. If you approve the photo, the carving will be shipped to you after receiving the balance of the commission cost, plus shipping and handling. If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with the carving, you may return it in the original box for a full refund of the commissioned price.
